Morocco Trip

This is the first winter in my 21 years on this planet that I have spent the whole of January in the UK. To be honest its not been as bad as I was expecting.... The cold that is. On the wave side of things it couldnt have been much worse! I havent surfed as much as I would like, but been keeping my fitness up in the gym and pool. Luckily in two weeks time I will be living it up in Morocco for a week with Surf Coach Joel Gray from Surf Solutions http://www.surfsolutions.tv/
I am going with a few of the girly groms and my good friend Holly Donnelly. The week will be spent surfing, training and video analysis. I've never been to Morocco before so looking forward to experiencing a new culture and surfing some new waves!

My amazing sponsors have all been great after telling them about my little trip..... look at all my new goodies!

Heres the goodies I recieved from them!
P-Land!
The last couple of weeks has been pretty good for surf in Devon... well, it hasnt been flat! Croyde has had a few fun days but with the big swells and Southerly winds I've found myself round the corner at the famous P-land quite often. Ask anyone who lives here and its certainly not at the top of the list of choices (unlkess your Nick Lloyd) but sometimes the only option! However I have managed to have a few pretty good days recently, with some fairly solid size which has kept me happy! So far the ice cream headache is bareable, but boots will be on in the very near future! Sad times!
Lets hope the run upto christmas brings some good swell for everyone!

British Interclubs

The first weekend in November saw the British interclubs come to North Devon. The comp was held at Woolacombe in 2/3ft waves with strong northerlys. Six teams turned up all together including local clubs Croyde,Westward Ho! and Woolacombe.
It was a busy contest with two peaks running all day, teams supporting each other and commited judges sitting for hours in the cold wind!

Croyde were doing well and battling hard for first place, but Woolacmbe just pinched the title in the final heat by just four ponts between the teams! Croyde's girls did well winning the womens event and gaining top points towards Croydes overall placing.

The day wouldnt have gone ahead without the help of Matt knight, Tundish, Barracat and Ester, so thanks guys for putting on a great event and bring on next year! Croyde WILL take the title in 2012!

I'm Back!

So ive been a bit slack on this blogging nonsence... this is partly due to a broken laptop and no internet, poor excuse i know! So its actually been a year since ive posted and a pretty great year at that! I started off 2011 with a three month solo trip to Indo. January came and I still had no winter plans, the swell was non existant and i was freezing. So i booked myself a ticket for two weeks time and started packing! I know Indo well so wasnt nervous about travelling alone and I had friends that would be there to surf with! The trip was amazing and I spent 90% of the time in the water. I stayed in Bali for most of my trip, but did venture over to Sumbawa for a couple of weeks to see my good friend Hannah Harding in Lakey Peak! It was the first time I'd been to Lakeys and it did not dissappoint! Four foot glassy left handers every day is my idea of heaven!

When i returned home in April, spring was in full swing and the waves were pumping! I spent the first week surfing and catching up with family and friends before starting work back at the surf school! www.surfsouthwest.com  this has been my 6th season of surf instructing and im still loving it!
My summer was spent surfing, working and doing a few comps in between! I didnt manage to do all of the ukpst due to work commitments but had great fun at the few i did! next year i am going to commit to doing the full tour and improving on my ranking from this year!

So the seasons over and Croyde is back to its quiet self with just a scattering on locals left to enjoy the auntumn waves! We've had a great run of surf recently and since the surf school has closed for the winter ive had plenty of time to spend in the water!

One of my sponsors, SURFPLUGS has a new website that has just been launched so everyone check it out for the best earplugs to protect you from surfers ear! also check out my new profile on there!Cheers Rob! www.surfplugs.co.uk

A few days out of the shire

Ive just returned home to the lovely place that is Croyde, after gallavanting around Bristol and the land of the cornish!
Like i said previously, I went to see Annie Mac DJ in Brizzle, and might I say she was EPIC! Along with supporting DJ's she carried me along as I danced the night away!

The next day I fueled up on caffene and headed for Newquay for the awards night of the UKPST (UK Pro Surf Tour) A yummy three course meal was had with my fellow competitors, followed by the awards and party! My good friend Gwen Spurlock from Wales, won the womens tour for the second year running, stoked for her!! Tassy Swallow who won the womens division in the final leg of the tour, managed to take away the title of Under 16 girls tour winner, she was ripping and totally deserved it! Full results of the tour can be found at http://www.ukprosurftour.com/

After a brilliant night of partying, Tassy Swallow, Holly Donelly and I went on a little road trip to find some waves!
The day was filled with with lots of driving, google maps, laughing and dead crabs!
We were very indecicive and ended up at Godrevey! I was nominated camera man and got some footage for the other two. It didnt look like I missed much, but the girls were surfing well. The footage is on Holly's blog  http://hollydonnelly.blogspot.com/

Overall it was a very eventful few days
